Microsoft says Office bug exposed customers’ confidential emails to Copilot AI
Microsoft confirmed a bug in its Office software that allowed Copilot AI to read and summarize customers' confidential emails without permission since January, bypassing data loss prevention policies. The bug affected emails labeled as confidential and was being processed incorrectly by Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, with Microsoft beginning to roll out a fix in early February.
