Discord distances itself from Peter Thiel–backed verification software after its code was found on a Google Cloud endpoint
Discord has distanced itself from Persona Identities, a Peter Thiel-backed verification software, after researchers discovered nearly 2,500 accessible files containing sensitive code on a Google Cloud endpoint. The exposed data revealed that Persona conducts extensive identity verification checks including facial recognition, watchlist screening, and adverse media monitoring across multiple categories. Discord confirmed the partnership lasted less than a month and affected only a small number of test users before the security issue was discovered.
