HEADLINE: Oura Health Acquires Gesture-Recognition Startup Doublepoint
ARTICLE:
Oura Health Oy, the Finnish smart ring maker, has acquired Doublepoint, a startup specializing in gesture and voice control technology for wearables, Bloomberg Technology reports.
The acquisition positions Oura to integrate gesture controls into its smart ring lineup, expanding the device's interface beyond its current touchscreen and app-based interactions. Doublepoint demonstrated its gesture-recognition technology at CES Unveiled in Las Vegas on January 4.
For finance teams, the deal signals how wearable makers are racing to reduce friction in device interaction—a key competitive lever as the category matures. Gesture control could lower barriers to adoption among users who find traditional wearable interfaces cumbersome, potentially expanding Oura's addressable market.
The company has not disclosed deal terms or timing for when gesture controls will appear in Oura's products.
